If you are like me, even small jobs manage to take up all the time available to do them. Most of us end up working a lot of unnecessary hours when we simply focus on time management. We have been trained like monkeys to mistake busyness for productivity.

In other words, we develop time wasting habits but come out looking like we have done a good day’s work. I don’t know about you, but I feel like a puppet whose strings are being pulled every which way. There are two main reasons we procrastinate. The first is that we know we should do something to solve a problem but we don’t actually know what to do. In other words, we lack specific knowledge to take action. The other reason we procrastinate is that the problem is so large that we feel overwhelmed. This sense of being overwhelmed can also be the result of scattered energies and a lack of focus.

Understanding these two main causes of procrastination allows us to overcome it. The first key to overcoming procrastination is to become educated on the problem and potential solutions to the problem.
